Dunton Hills Wind Turbine
The proposal was a single 78m high wind turbine. The site was a low hilltop in isolated Green Belt farmland sitting on the edge between the Thurrock reclaimed fenland to the west and the Brentwood hills to the north. It seemed an ideal location for a turbine. However, Brentwood Borough Council planners were not keen. Landscape and Visual Appraisal reporting was required to accompany an appeal. Nigel Cowlin Ltd prepared this together with supporting photomontage visualisations for the proposed turbine.
The landscape and visual aspects of the case were accepted by the Inspector, but the appeal was dismissed on an unrelated technicality. Later this issue was resolved and the turbine is now in place and generating electricity.
